The State of Educational Law
Research in a Cyberage


Dear Professional with Interests Related to Education Law,

You are being requested to participate in a survey entitled The State of Educational Law Research in a Cyberage. Kevin Brady of North Carolina State University and Justin Bathon of the University of Kentucky are conducting the study, after having consulted with national education law organizations. You were selected to participate in this online survey because you have been identified as a professional with interests related to the field of educational law. The purpose of this online survey is to investigate the impact of the Internet on how educational law professionals conduct their research. Please complete this survey only once. If you have completed this survey from a different source, please do not click on the link below or submit your survey again.

INFORMATION

If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to respond to both Likert-scale and open-ended survey questions concerning your perceptions of the impact of the Internet on your educational law research activities.

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. You will not be asked to identify yourself. In addition, your responses will be automatically and confidentially added to a data set by a computer software package. Your individual responses will not be accessible.

At the end of the study, summary data could be reported in educational research journal articles and conference presentations.

RISKS

There are no foreseeable risks to your participation in this survey. Only the Investigators, Kevin Brady and Justin Bathon will have access to the data. The result will be summary data that can not be connected to you personally.

BENEFITS

While you will not gain any immediate benefit, you may receive some long-term benefit for participating in this survey. For example, the results of the survey data will be reported to school law organizations and used to encourage the future development of the Internet for educational law research.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The information this study records will be kept strictly confidential. Data will be stored securely in locked file cabinets and in the locked office of the Principal Investigator. As noted above, you are not asked to give your name and there is no way to identify you personally or connect you to your responses. Pseudonyms will be used in any documents or presentations.

Your participation in this study is voluntary; you may decline to participate without penalty. If you decide to participate, you may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
